Storage and portability

Import, export, and back up your library

SnippetCraft can export the complete library as a portable .snippets file and import that file later or on another Mac.

Export a library

Open the library controls

Use the SnippetCraft import and export controls available from the app workflow.

Choose export

Select a location you control and save the generated .snippets file.

Protect the file

The export can contain private reusable text. Store and share it with the same care as the original library.

Test important backups

For a critical library, verify that the file can be imported into a test environment or secondary Mac.

Import a library

Choose import

Select the exported .snippets file.

Review the result report

SnippetCraft uses duplicate-safe import. Existing items can be skipped, and the report explains how many were added or not imported.

Check representative items

Verify folders, triggers, variables, content, and documentation before deleting the source copy.

Export versus cloud sync

An export is a portable point-in-time copy. Cloud sync keeps an active library aligned across Macs. For valuable content, using both provides convenience and a separate recovery path.

Before a major change

Export before reorganizing a large library, replacing a Mac, or testing a new workflow across many snippets.
