The clipboard variable combines content you just copied with reusable text that provides structure around it.

Create a clipboard template

Copy the changing content

Copy the text that should appear inside the final result.

Edit or create a snippet

Place the cursor where the copied value belongs and choose Insert Variable.

Select the clipboard variable

Save the template, then expand it after copying a test value.

Useful workflows

Privacy and verification

Clipboard variables and clipboard history are processed locally. Raw clipboard history is not uploaded as part of optional snippet synchronization. Because the current clipboard can contain sensitive information, verify the expanded result before sending it.

Clipboard variable versus clipboard history

The variable uses the current copied value inside a template. Clipboard history helps you find an earlier copied item.
