Turn copied text into a reusable snippet
Clipboard history is temporary working memory. Saving an item as a snippet gives it a name, trigger, organization, and permanent context.
Capture from clipboard history
Open Clipboard
Search for the copied entry and confirm it contains the complete text you want to keep.
Choose the snippet action
Use the item menu to save the clipboard entry as a reusable snippet.
Add useful metadata
Give it a clear name and description, choose a folder, add tags, and create a trigger only if direct expansion will be useful.
Remove accidental data
Review the content for private names, tokens, customer details, or one-time values before saving it permanently.
Capture selected text
SnippetCraft also supports saving selected text with the shortcut shown in the product workflow, ⌥⇧S. This is useful when the text is visible in the current app and you already know it deserves a permanent place in the library.
Improve the captured item
- Replace changing details with variables.
- Add a description that explains when the snippet should be used.
- Attach Markdown documentation for source links or warnings.
- Add tags that match the words you will remember later.
A copied fix becomes more valuable when you remove one-off values and document why it worked.
